At week’s end, there are few activities as healthy and relaxing as
taking a bike ride on one of Houston’s numerous biking, hiking, and
pedestrian trails. Unfortunately, many bicyclists do not have enough
time to find all of Houston’s hidden paths, as well as some of the
city’s more popular places for cycling. Bayou Bikers is the perfect
annual event for cyclists looking for new biking trails around town.
On the first Sunday of every month, a group of cyclists meet at Historic Market Square Park for a monthly bike ride entitled Bayou Bikers.
At this monthly event, all levels of cyclists are invited
to participate in a 25- to 40-mile bike ride ofHouston’s bayous and
waterways. This informal group of cyclists formed Bayou Bikers in order
to show Houstonites and tourists the natural beauty of theHouston’s
waterways and cityscape.
The next Bayou Bikers is scheduled to occur on February 4th
at 8am, and all levels of cyclists are invited to attend. Prior to
arriving, all cyclists should remember to bring a mountain bike, or a
bike with fat tires. Mountain bikes are required due to the rocky,
off-road paths riders might encounter along the informal ride. Riders
should meet for this exciting ride in Market Square Park, which can be
located at 301 Milam, Houston, Texas 77002.
Houston's a beautiful city with tons of options for people who enjoy
the great outdoors. This winter take advantage of this free bike ride
for a better understanding of the multiple paths and trails hidden
behind Houston’s cityscape.
